Free access, granted after a real review, running the same engines as everywhere else: groups, work to hand in, marking, and dashboards on your own numbers.
How access works
1. You ask
Create a free account, then fill in the request under Settings › Program: the kind of organization, its domain, how many people you expect and what the tool will be used for. Nothing is charged at this stage, and no card is asked for.
2. We check
We look at the organization, its domain and its mission. This step is real: a request can be put on hold for more information, or refused. We would rather say so here than let you find out after three hundred students have signed up.
3. We approve
The decision is dated, explained, and carries an expiry when the program has one. You see it under Settings › Program, with the reason — whether it is granted or refused.
4. The account opens
Approval opens the school experience: the wording changes (groups, students, assignments), commercial screens disappear for students, and the free plan’s caps are lifted. Until it is approved, nothing changes: declaring yourself a school is not being admitted as one.
What you actually get
Groups, and a code to join them
Create your groups, hand out a code, and students join on their own. A group can hold other groups: whoever runs a department sees what it contains, without being enrolled in every class by hand.
Work handed in, and marked
Assign work to a group, with a due date. Each person hands in text and files, you see who has not started, you mark it out of a scale, or send it back to redo. Late work is chased automatically, at most once a day.
A student never sees another student’s work
Not the submission, not the files, not the grade, not even the progress — including when both received the same assignment. This is not a screen setting: it is enforced in the database, and checked by automated probes on every release.
The same dashboards as everyone else
No cut-down version. Connect your sources, build your dashboards, and let the Academy teach how to read the numbers. A student, meanwhile, has no access to administration, billing or advertising screens.
What to know before saying yes
Where your data is hosted
Your data is hosted in the United States (verified 2026-09-19). If your organization must document a transfer of personal information outside its province or country, that assessment is yours to produce, and we provide the technical details on request.
Access has a date
An approved program may carry an expiry. It is shown in your settings, and renewal is requested the same way as the original access.
What is not built yet
There is no automatic import from a student information system yet, no sign-in through your institution’s directory, and no report cards. We would rather write it down than let you discover it.
Frequently asked questions.
Is it really free?
Yes, for approved organizations: the free plan’s caps are lifted and no credit card is asked for. It is not a trial that turns into an invoice.
Who can apply?
Someone from the school or the organization, with an address that belongs to it. The request carries the name of whoever files it, and so does the decision.
What do students see?
Their groups, their work to hand in, the Academy and the dashboards shared with them. No billing, no connections, no advertising, and no other student. The Data Explorer is closed to them by default, and can be opened to one specific group — a marketing course, for instance.
What about a nonprofit?
The same path and the same access. The wording adjusts: committees rather than classes, volunteers rather than students, training rather than assignments.
Can we leave with our data?
Yes. Exports are on every plan, and deleting the account and the associated data is requested from the page provided for it.
